Assisted demo

This morning I showed watercolor painting to a group of senior citizens at Falsterbo Art Gallery. It's very rewarding to talk about painting with the elderly because you can't get too old for it. My daughter Sissa's preschool was closed for planning so she assisted me with new perspectives on the subject. Photo by Lena Miörner.

Morecambe Bay

Britain's largest estuary makes a marvelous spot for watching migrating waders in fall. I got there in late July and watched the outgoing tide and the birds dividing the beach between them: Herring Gulls and Lesser Black-Backed Gulls on dry sand, Oyster Catchers on wet sand, and Curlews on the shoals. The Stone Jetty Café, originally a train and ferry station serving the export trade to Ireland, is strongly recommended.

Arctic Tern

The raspy calls of the Arctic Tern make an essential part of the summer atmosphere of the Baltic Archipelagos. This one is perching on a long-abandoned stone jetty in Ragnabo, Småland.
