I have had the pleasure of being interviewed by Al Kline with Featured E-Magazine. It's great to be able to reach a new audience this way. Thanks, Al!

On another rock

A lot of birds that like to dwell on rocks have a black and white plumage and a brighter color like pink and green in this case. The message could be "I am sexy" and perhaps "I am a male Eider". I suppose concealing coloration is for those with a stronger reason to hide, like females on eggs, but I am often amazed how easy it is to overlook a male Eider resting among the boulders. Maybe their contradistinctive colors are well chosen considering the glittering pink and black rocks with some greenish bladderrack on them.

Strong, soft light on a beautiful child's face. It was a true pleasure to paint this portrait.

I painted this while preparing my new course which focuses on people and animals. Direct, weak light is always a challenge, just like ageing.
